 Funeral Assistant
Erwin "Erv" Backlund has been a funeral staff assistant with Wright Funeral Home since 1993. He was born in Hickson, North Dakota, where he grew up and attended grade school. He continued on with post-secondary school and graduated from Comstock High School in 1945. Shortly after graduating high school, Erv enlisted in the Army and was based out of Fort. BelVoir Virginia, where he was honorably discharged in 1947.
From 1947-1962 Erv worked for Berglund Oil Company in Moorhead. In 1962 Erv and Bud Swanson took over Berglund Oil Company which they ran until their retirement in 1989. Berglund Oil Company was located on the corner which that Country Greenery now occupies. Shortly after retirement, Erv worked for Pleasure Products of Moorhead, from 1991-1992.
Erv married his wife, Clarice Hatlestad of Hickson, North Dakota in June of 1954. Together they have four children, Randy (Moorhead), Ricky (Moorhead), Renee (Sabin), and Rodney (Fargo). |
