Hanny Wright's favorite hobby was working in her perennial flower beds. One of them still graces the north edge of the parking lot at Wright Funeral Home. Hanny (Lund) Wright was born in Norway and grew up in Hillsboro, MN. She was working as an anesthetist at St. John's Hospital in Fargo, ND, when she met and married Edgar Wright. Hanny was a community organizer, and was a founder and past president of Clay County Camp Fire Girls, helped to found the United Way of Cass Clay and served as their first female president in 1961-62, served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary, served on the board of Eventide Lutheran Home, helped found the Eventide Auxiliary and St. Ansgar Hospital Auxiliary, was active in the development of the Heritage-Hjemkomst Interpretive Center and helped to found the Clay County Red Cross Chapter. Following her husbands sudden death in 1953, she assumed management of Wright Funeral Home, while her son Edgar, Jr., was attending the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science program. She helped Edgar Jr., operate the business until her retirement in 1980. Hanny died in June of 1992, at the age of 92.
