Anna Stefanski

Anna Luka Stefanski, 94, Ulen, MN, died July 11, 2017, in Viking Manor Nursing Home.
Anna was born January 9, 1923 in Poland. On July 16, 1943, she married Jan Stefanski in Germany. She spoke of many terrible memories from WWII. After WWII, Jan, Anna and their family were no longer considered Polish citizens and were deported. In 1951, they moved with their family to Plattsburg, NY. A year later they moved to Duluth, MN where she worked for Joe Huie’s Café. In 1990, they moved to Hitterdal, MN. She entered the Viking Manor in 2012.
She is survived by daughters Regina Larry Jacobson, Hitterdal, MN, and Jan Cheever, Moorhead, MN; son John Stefanski, Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Lynne Scott Middlestead, Erick Jacobson, Gail Shawn Blair, Ron Steph Jacobson and great-grandchildren Aaron Middlestead, Sam Blair, and Percival, Quinton and Tristan Jacobson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan, in 1998.
The funeral mass will be 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 14, 2017, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Hawley, MN. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery. Father Bill DeCrans will be presiding.
