Arvid Anderson

December 27, 1932 — December 9, 2013

Arvid Anderson, age 80, passed away, Dec. 9, 2013, at Hawley Senior Living.
Arvid was born Dec. 27, 1932 to parents, Conrad and Alice Berg Anderson. He had one sister, Irene Ernie Larson. He was baptized at Rollag Lutheran Church and confirmed at Hawley Lutheran Church, both by Rev. S.G. Hauge. He attended school in Hawley.
Throughout his younger years, Arvid held many miscellaneous jobs, which included time at the Garrick Theatre and the Clay County Maintenance shop. His military service was with the U.S. Army, spending the majority of his enlisted time serving in Korea.
Arvid returned to Hawley in 1955, and through the coaxing of his mother, met Adeline Spillum, who was working at the local bank. Arvid and Adeline were married in April of 1957. The couple moved to California for a short time with Arvid working at the Rohr Aircraft plant. They missed their Minnesota roots and moved back to Hawley in less than a year’s time and have lived there since, raising four children.
Arvid always seemed happiest when he was busy working, whether it was construction, cutting wood, or helping neighbors and friends with projects. He worked for Krieg and Sons for 9 years, then TF Power’s Construction in Fargo for 29 years as a cement mason retiring in 1995. When he wasn’t working, Arvid loved the outdoors, spending many an hour in his boat fishing, and just as many hours in tree stands, bow-hunting deer. He also loved to spend any time he could down on his Lake 15 property, either working or playing mostly working. He loved to share stories of his mother, and also of hunting adventures with time spent with his father, cousins, and friends.
He is survived by his wife Adeline; 2 daughters, Debra Arne Mickelberg, Audubon MN, Rachel Mark Coppin, Jamestown ND; 2 sons, Mark Anderson Jayne Howell, Badger MN, Noel Tanya Anderson, Hawley MN; 8 grandchildren Justin Kristie Mickelberg, Madalyn Robert Bakke Mickelberg, Joshua Jillian Coppin, Dana Coppin, Samantha Wesner, Jacob Anderson, Rory Anderson and Kelso Anderson; 4 great grandchildren, Gavin and Jada Mickelberg, and Ryder and Jaxon Mickelberg-Bakke; and special niece, Linda Jones. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Alice, sister, Irene Larson, baby boy, Arvid Bruce, and granddaughter, Nicole Coppin.
