Bernice Moltzan

Bernice Moltzan, 76, Moorhead, MN, died on Sunday, May 22, 2016, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.
Bernice Dombeck was born January 12, 1940 in Argyle, MN, to Joseph and Regina Kuznia Dombeck. She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1958.
Bernice met Jyles “Huns” Moltzan, the love of her life, and they were married on July 23, 1960 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, MN, where they made their home for two years. They moved to Moorhead in 1965 where they have lived since.
Bernice spent 25 years in banking, at Moorhead State Bank, American Bank, and Metropolitan Savings and Loan. She managed Beatta’s, a fashion store in Fargo owned by her sister and brother-in-law, for 8 years. She and her husband helped their son Steve start Moorhead Marine in Moorhead and this business was the pride of her life. She spent fifteen years working in the business.
She loved spending time at their cabin on West Silent Lake near Vergas, pontooning and enjoying her children and grandchildren who meant the world to her. She loved the times she could enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of her wine with her beloved husband. She also looked forward to her annual trips with her treasured sisters. She loved to entertain and was a great cook – making everybody’s special days even more so. She enjoyed playing cards and she and Jyles were in a card club for 30 years. She was also an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed meeting for lunch every month in Detroit Lakes with her high school girlfriends. Every spring she looked forward to planting her beautiful geraniums. On a beautiful sunny day, you could find her shopping at T.J. Maxx. She cherished her many shopping trips to Minneapolis with her only daughter. Bernice liked the simple things in life but two of her fondest memories were her 50th wedding anniversary celebration at Oxbow Country Club and her beloved trip to Napa Valley with her son and daughter-in-law.
Bernice had a positive, infectious, beautiful personality. She always put others first and never wanted anybody to worry about her. She lived every day to the fullest even with the health burdens she faced. People were drawn to her and everybody loved her. She could be counted on to offer the best advice for any situation. Her faith was steadfast and she prayed the Rosary daily.
Bernice’s family would like to express their appreciation to her hairdresser Tangy, for the special trips she made to care for her in the past seven months.
Bernice will be remembered not only for her infectious smile, but for her love of life and unfailingly positive daily attitude.
She is survived by her husband, Jyles “Huns” Moltzan, Moorhead, MN; three sons Steve Becky Moltzan, Moorhead, MN, Scott Michelle Moltzan, West Fargo, ND, and Sean Moltzan, Fargo, ND; one daughter Stacie Chad Zimmerman, Fargo, ND; brothers and sisters Bernie Margie Dombeck, Cannon Falls, MN, Raymond Barb Dombeck, Apple Valley, MN, Theresa Norm Klovstad, Sun City, AZ, Betty Warren Vigen, St. Cloud, MN, Rich Sandy Dombeck, Hawley, MN, Leonard Eileen Dombeck, Weathersford, TX, Jim Irene Dombeck, Moorhead, MN, Mark Dombeck, Detroit Lakes, MN; three grandchildren Casey, Mara and Zac; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN. Friends may gather for one hour prior to the service in the church.
Final Resting Place: The Columbarium at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
