Beverly Iverson

August 19, 1933 — June 13, 2017

Beverly E. Iverson, 83, Lake Park, MN, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, surrounded by her family, at Viking Manor in Ulen, MN.

Beverly Elaine Roen Iverson was born August 19, 1933, to Severt and Teresa Roen. She was raised on the family farm northwest of Lake Park with her 7 siblings. She was baptized and confirmed at Lake Park Lutheran Church. Bev attended country school at District 42 until 8th grade. She then went onto and graduated from Lake Park High School.

Bev married Dean Wardell Iverson in St. Paul on September 27, 1952. Dean and Bev lived a short time in Red Bank, NJ when Dean was in the Army. When Dean was sent to Germany, Bev returned to Lake Park and worked at Winjum’s store. Upon return from the Army, Dean and Bev purchased a farm northwest of Lake Park where they raised dairy and beef cattle and farmed. They were blessed with two daughters, Sheila Rae and Shirley Beth.

Bev worked frying Lefse at Sena’s Lefse in Hitterdal and also at Carl’s Lefse in Hawley. She knew just how “brown” it should be!

Bev had beautiful flower beds and lots of them. She always had a large vegetable garden and did lots of canning. She liked to “dig in the dirt.” There were always “goodies” in the house. She was a great cook and baker. She made many wonderful Scandinavian treats for the holidays and was great to entertain. The cookie jar always had a chocolate chip cookie for the grandkids.

Bev was involved in Highland Grove church- serving on the Altar Guild, Sunday School teacher, Ladies Aid and Circle. She also was a member of the Homemaker’s group and made many fun projects. Ceramics and embroidery were also hobbies of Bev’s. She also made many beautiful block quilts for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Sherwood Nelson, and Shirley Paul Rustad; three grandchildren, Nicholas Tocarra Nelson, Jennifer Brady Neros and Andrew Amy Nelson; ten great-grandchildren, London and Ireland Nelson, Chelsea, Taya and Lily Neros, Sawyer, Samuel, Isaac, Ingrid and Elsie Nelson; brother, Buddy Roen; sisters, Marian Lunde and Terry Stewart Ackerson; and sister-in-law, Jean Iverson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; her parents; siblings, Alice Moe, Dorothy Haugrud, John Roen, Theron Roen; and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Lights Assisted Living and Viking Manor of Ulen for their wonderful care of Bev.
