Carol Ruziska

Carol A. Ruziska, 76, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in River Pointe Senior Living, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Carol Ann Opgrand was born January 25, 1939, in Ulen, MN, to Anton and Gida Eine Opgrand. The youngest of 16 children, she grew up in the Fargo/Moorhead area and attended school in Fargo. After high school, she began waitressing at Hector International Airport. On February 15, 1958 she married James Ruziska at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead. They had 5 children together and the majority of Carol’s time was spent at home raising her children. While caring for her own children, she also babysat for the children of many friends and relatives. Carol also worked at various part-time jobs outside the home, including Walmart. Jim passed away March 12, 2011 and in 2013 Carol moved into River Pointe Senior Living.

Carol loved traveling, playing Bingo and cards, and she especially loved taking her yearly trips to Las Vegas. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead.

She is survived by her children, Kim Ruziska, Hitterdal, MN, Tim Ruziska, Moorhead, Shannon Bobbi Ruziska, Fargo, Deanne John Halvorson, Barnesville, MN, and Jamie Kelly Ruziska, Maple Grove, MN; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, plus one great-grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all 15 of her siblings.
