Cedric Odriscoll Worman

Cedric ODriscoll Worman, age 41, of Effingham, SC, passed away on July 21, 2014 in Durham, NC following a brief illness. Cedric was born in Cincinnati, OH on April 26, 1973 to his parents Danna Schilling and Walter Worman.

Cedric moved to Moorhead, MN in 1975 and later moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1985, graduating from North Hollywood High in 1991. Cedric earned a bachelors degree in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University in 1996. Following a tour with Peace Corps in Uganda, Cedric taught English in Korea for a year. Cedric then attended the University of Florida where he earned a masters degree in zoology in 2004 and a PhD in biology in 2012. Julia M. Allen and Cedric were married on July 26, 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT. Cedric has been an assistant professor in the Biology Department at Francis Marion University, Florence, SC for the past two years. Cedric married Sumire Yamaguchi in Nikko, Japan on December 21, 2012.
Over his brief life Cedric visited or lived in 14 countries on five continents exploring and researching various natural and historical aspects of the planet. His interests were diverse: ecology, bee-keeping, soap and candle making, cultures and history, archery, wood working, gardening, and photography. His wit and intellect enriched the lives of all who knew him. His early death is a great loss.

Cedric is survived by his wife, Sumire of Effingham, SC; mother, Danna Schilling of Stockton, CA; father, Walter, stepmother, Barbara, and sister, Margo of Moorhead, MN; brother, Derek, and niece, Magdalena of Tegucigalpa, Honduras; his wifes parents, Masashi and Naoko Yamaguchi of Tokyo, Japan; many aunts, uncles and cousins; friends and colleagues around the world.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home Moorhead.
