Chester Anderson

Chester Duane Anderson, 91, of Lake Park, MN, died Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park.

The youngest of 7 children, Chester was born September 15, 1925, in Lake Park, to John and Lettie Christianson Anderson. He graduated from Lake Park High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving two tours of duty before he was honorably discharged in 1953.

He was married to Clara Robbins in 1950, and after his discharge from the Navy, they bought a farm near his boyhood home north of Lake Park, where he farmed alongside his brother, Orlo, until retiring from farming at the age of 52. Chester and Clara had one son, Stuart, born in 1955. Clara died December 26, 1993. On October 10, 1994, Chester was united in marriage to Evelyn Johnson in Lake Park.

Chester enjoyed spending time at their winter home in Mission, TX. He loved gardening, playing golf, hunting, and playing cards, especially pinochle and bridge. Never one to sit idle, Chester liked to be busy all the time. Family was very important to Chester, and he and his siblings always found time to be together throughout the years. Church was an important part of his life, and he was a life-long member of Lake Park Lutheran Church. Chester will be remembered as a gentle man, soft-spoken, caring, loving, generous and helpful. He was content and at peace, knowing that he had receiving everything that he ever wanted out of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Johnson; his son, Stuart Nina Anderson, Bloomfield Hills, MI; his grandchildren, Derek Anderson and Elise Anderson; his sisters-in-law, Judy Anderson and Minerva Anderson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara, and all his siblings, Ruby Berland, Orlo Anderson, Wendel Anderson, Eunice Ellickson, Lesley Anderson, and Victor Anderson.
