Clarice Lucille Ernst

Clarice Lucille Ernst, 90, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on May 20, 2017, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN. Clarice was born on April 5, 1927 to Henry and Freida Solseth Noben in Lake Park, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Lake Park Lutheran Church.

Clarice graduated from Lake Park High School in 1945. She then attended and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Economics in 1949. After graduating Clarice moved to Clarkfield, MN. where she taught Social Studies and was the librarian from 1949-1952. On August 29, 1952, Clarice joined Clifford Ernst in marriage at Lake Park Lutheran Church, in Lake Park, MN. Clarice and Clifford moved to Carrington, ND in 1957, where Clarice went back to teaching and taught two years at Nordmor Country School, a two room country school house, from 1960 to 1962. She taught grades 7th through 12th. In 1962, they returned to Lake Park, MN where Clarice taught Junior High School English for 20 years until retirement in 1982. Clarice and Clifford resided on their farm near Lake Park from 1962 to 2005. Clifford died in 2014.

Clarice and Clifford earned the Becker County Soil Conservation Award in 1965. Clarice enjoyed reading, playing the piano, working in the lawn, tending to her flowers, and baking. She placed her faith, family, and the farming community above all else.

Clarice is survived by her daughter, Deborah Arlo Rude Ernst of Thief River Falls, MN; brother, Charles Noben of Lake Park, MN; nephews, Charles Peg Martin of Little Falls, MN, and Chris Noben of Lake Park, MN; nieces, Jeanne Kim Waln of Clearwater, MN, and Nancy Konrad Noben-Trauth of Lake Park, MN; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; parents, Henry and Freida; sister, Rhoda Martin, brother-in-law, Lloyd Martin; sister-in-law, Elline Noben; and nephew, Glenn Noben.

Visitation: Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Wright Funeral Home in Lake Park, MN.

Service: Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 11:00AM at Lake Park Lutheran Church in Lake Park, MN.

Burial: Thursday, May 25, following services at Lake Park Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lake Park, MN.
