Deloris Blanche Evenson

Deloris Evenson, 84, of Lake Park, MN passed away on February 20, 2017 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND. Deloris was born on August 6th, 1932 to Berth and Elsie Hyatt Brevik in Burke, SD.
Deloris attended school in Burke, SD. She married Duane Westlund on September 6th, 1950 and together they began a family and raised their 5 children. She married Garnet Evenson on June 7, 1975 at Lake Park Lutheran Church. They farmed in Lake Park and Pelican Rapids. Deloris and Garnet provided daycare and foster care in their rural area and were known to their foster children as Grandma Deloris and Grandpa Garnet. Together, they took care of 50 foster children in 25 years. Deloris was an excellent baker and was well known amongst her family and those that knew her for her cookies and donut holes. She also made care bears and cabbage patch dolls for all of her grandchildren and homemade quilts upon her grandchildren’s high school graduations. She was very much a care giver and very family oriented and was always ready greet them with a cup of coffee and cookies.
Deloris is survived by her children, Byrun Westlund, Roger Kathy Westlund, Roberta Rodger Pape Olson, Darwin Vicki Westlund, and Rebecca Dan Schoonhoven; Daughters-In-Law, Ruth Lerud and Denise Westlund; Grandchildren, Jacob, Erin, Caleb, Heather, Holly, Ryan, John, Jeffrey, Carly, Joshua, Christopher, Michelle, Justin, Andrew, and Kelsey; 27 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 1 great-great granddaughter; Brother, Art Brevik and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Garnet, Parents, Brothers, Ray and George; Sisters, Kay, Bernice, Helen, and Margie; Sons-In-Law, Ernie and Sonnie.
Memorial Gathering: Friday, February 24, from 5:00-7:00PM at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN with a prayer service beginning at 7:00PM.
Memorial Service: Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 AM at Eksjo Lutheran Church in Lake Park, MN
Burial: Saturday, February 25 following services at Eksjo Lutheran Cemetery.
