Doris Lomsdal

Doris L. Lomsdal, 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 14, 2016 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Doris was born January 18, 1921, in La Moure, ND, to Perry and Josie Peterson. She graduated from Verona High School in 1939 and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. for about 5 years. After the war, she returned to Fargo and worked for the Minneapolis Moline and the VA Hospital.

Doris was united in marriage to Clifford Lomsdal of Hitterdal, MN on October 16, 1948. They farmed for several years near Lake Park and Hitterdal and then for a couple of years in Verona, ND. They returned to Hitterdal where they farmed until retiring.

Always a woman of strong faith, Doris was also a loving and devoted mother to her three children, and she lived her entire life for her family. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, including crochet and knitting, and she loved spending time outdoors and gardening. She loved playing bingo and doing word seek puzzles and cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends. Her special cat, Foxy, brought her many years of enjoyment while she was in the nursing home. Doris will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, as she touched the lives of so many people.

She is survived by her two sons, Leslie Nancy Lomsdal, of Moorhead, and Ron Susan Lomsdal, of Lake Havasu, AZ; one daughter, Beth Flint Ashmore, of Moorhead; four grandchildren, Janelle Lomsdal, Randi Anderson, Nichole Benson and Brock Ashmore; four great-grandchildren, Parker, Tess, Katelyn and Conner; and one sister, Ione Swanstrom, of Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Joyce McCleary and her brothers-in-law, Bernard McCleary and Orville Swanstrom.
