Dorothy “Dottie” Williams
Dorothy Marie Possehl Williams, 88, of Moorhead, MN died on Sunday, July 5th 2015, at Lilac Homes Memory Care in Moorhead, MN and was also under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was born October 25, 1926, in Fergus Falls, MN. Dorothy graduated from high school in 1944 from Barnesville High School.
In 1945, Dorothy received her music degree from Sherwood School of Music in Chicago, IL. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Irvin “Scotty” Williams in 1948. The couple eventually settled in Moorhead, MN in 1954.
After playing piano in numerous venues in the beginning of her career, she began instructing piano to well over 100 students per week until the late 1970’s. She also worked for Fairmont Creamery as a coordinator for the company’s sales promotion division. In 1980, she began working for a privately owned department store that was later purchased by Herberger’s, where she was in management in the housewares department until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked at Archie’s West Art and Gift shop.
Dorothy was also a member of the Fargo-Moorhead Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, making the world’s best Special K bars and a good cocktail. Dorothy had a feisty and spirited personality until the end, which will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Marie Antolik Possehl; her husband Irvin; and her eldest son, Steven Williams.
She is survived by sons, Dr. David Williams, and Timothy Robin Williams; Annette Williams; five grandchildren – Benjamin Andrea Williams, Jordan Williams, Alexa Nick Kossick, Brienne Williams and Leah Williams; two great-granddaughters, Sofia and Giuliana Kossick; Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Janet Swang.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 10th, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
