Dorothy Margaret SolheimDorothy Solheim 100, Moorhead, MN died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Dorothy was born July 10, 1910 in Olney, IL the daughter of Lewis and Emma Hasslinger Yonaka. The family moved to Minot, ND in her early years where she graduated from high school.She married Palmer Polly M. Solheim July 16, 1929. They moved to Moorhead in 1938. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in 1939 and she is still a member. In 1940 they built their dream home where she lived until 2009. Polly died in February 1983. Dorothy and Polly adopted a son, Robert James in 1945 and adopted a daughter, Mary Elizabeth in 1949. She enjoyed always keeping an immaculate house. Her outside gardens were also beautiful. Dorothy received an award for Rotary yard of the month and also had her yard on the Fargo-Moorhead garden tour. Her biggest enjoyment came every weekend during the summer at their cottage on Big Cormorant Lake. Weekends were always filled with excellent food and family. Dorothy worked at First National Bank, Moorhead and Imperial Preserves in Fargo until her retirement.She is survived by her daughter, Mary Swanson, son-in-law Roland Rocky Swanson, two grandchildren, Heidi Swanson Berg, Moorhead and Brock Marnie Swanson, Sartell, MN; three great-granddaughters, Heather Berg, Moorhead, and Sydney and Chloe Swanson, Sartell, MN, and one great-great grandson, Mason Earl Berg, Moorhead. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Polly, son Robert, her parents, three sisters, Luvella, Vida, and Alvena and one brother, Clarence Clink.Our family would like to express their thanks to the Villa Maria staff for their wonderful care, support and kindness.
