Ebba Stensgaard

Ebba L. Stensgaard, 83, Oak Crossing at Essentia Health, Detroit Lakes, MN, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in Oak Crossing.Ebba Wangen was born on February 26, 1928, in Twin Valley, MN to Louis and Ebba Wangen. Her mother died in childbirth and she was raised by her aunt and uncle Thora and Theodore Thompson. She attended the Cheerful Nook country school near Flom, MN, and graduated from Waubun, MN, high school in 1946. She came to Hawley, MN, where she married Selmer A. Stensgaard on April 20, 1947. They made their home at Hawley. She worked at the Hawley Locker Plant for many years. She was also a caregiver all of her life, working in area group homes and caring for elderly individuals. She retired last fall after working for twelve years at the Hawley Manor. Ebba also sold Avon products for 42 years, right up until moving into Oak Crossing in October of 2011. Her husband, Selmer died on August 16, 1994. Ebba's family would like to offer a special thank you to Andrea McGillis, Ebba had cared for her in her younger days and she cared for Ebba at Oak Crossing. Ebba is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Loren Cavalier, Perham, MN; sister Bergleth Ostlund, Bagley, MN; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Becky, Jen, Kody, Mike, Adam, Shane and Tyson; three great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Keith, sister, Myrtle Urness, and brother Marvin Thompson.
