Elmer “Al” Kemp

Elmer "Al" Kemp, 63, Barnesville, MN, died on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Elmer was born on May 1, 1947, in Staples, MN, to Marvin Levi and Esther V. Anderson Kemp. He grew up and attended school in Staples. He lived in Oklahoma for a time, where he was a Chef and also worked for a gas company. He drove truck for Barrett Mobile Home Transport and in January 1974 went to work for Steiger Tractor now CNH in Fargo where he was still employed. Elmer married Marsha Joubert on February 16, 1974 in Hawley, MN, and they made their home in Fargo for seventeen years before moving to Barnesville in 1995. Aside from Marsha, his kids and grandkids were number one in his life. He loved life, loved everyone and loved to tell stories, fishing with the grandkids; an excellent cook and he cherished his lake home on Tamarac Lake and his boat. The Land SharkElmer is survived by his wife, Marsha, Barnesville, MN; son, Greg Joubert Kemp Janet Bond, Rothsay, MN; six daughters, Angie John Woodson, Claremore, OK, Missy Smith, Claremore, OK, Marcy Chuck Koski, Barnesville, MN, Mandy John Lewis, Moorhead, Kadie Kemp Derek Brown, Moorhead, MN, and Karlie Kemp, Barnesville, MN; two brothers, Clifford Becky Kemp, Albertville, MN, Marvin Kim Kemp, Jr., Bluffton, MN; four sisters, Rosemary Duane Peterson, Staples, MN, Barbara Larry Kepner, Sutter Creek, CA, Christine Mike Marsh, Brooklyn Park, MN, Karrie Kemp, Staples, MN; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judy Spandl, and nephew, Mike Jergens, Jr.
