Frances “Fran” Rickers

Frances “Fran” Rickers, 74 of Moorhead, MN died August 23, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 6, 1939 in Berlin, ND to Gabriel and Katherine Gross Aberle. After moving to Fargo, she met the love of her life at the Crystal Ball Room and married Sylvester Rickers on August 20, 1956. Fran spent her life supporting America’s Veterans with a lifelong career at the Department of Veterans Affairs and voluntary service with the Catholic War Veterans and Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary. During her volunteering service, Fran held local, district, state, and national offices for the Catholic War Veterans and the Veterans Foreign War Auxiliaries. Fran’s outstanding service was recognized by President George W. Bush with the Volunteer Service Award in 2005. She was also a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Rickers of Leesburg, VA, and Tom Deb Rickers of Sartell, MN; daughters, Sylvia Jon Lein of Moorhead, Kathy Merle Fischer of Fridley, MN, and Janette Grimes of Bluffton, SC; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Ann Jim Gaster of Sun City, AZ, Matt Rose Aberle of Mohall, ND, Gabe Nancy Aberle of Dent, MN, and Zak Marion Aberle of Cottonwood, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; and sister, Imelda Aberle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN and will continue for one hour before the service at the church the following day.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead.
