Fred Okke

Fred was born November 23, 1928, in Moorhead, MN, to Anthony and Anna Gutzmer Okke. He grew up on the family farm outside Glyndon, MN, where they had dairy cattle and raised produce. Fred later worked at Ames Sand and Gravel until he married Charlene Olsen on June 7, 1953, in Hawley. Together they started a family and a business. Fred raised cattle, horses, trees, and produce. He traveled the tri-state area hauling cattle until the early '80's, when he focused more on raising produce and taking care of the other animals on the farm. He took pride in his work and remained on the farm until moving to Clayco Care Center in Barnesville a few years ago. He will be missed. Fred is survived by his children, Kim John Peterson, Debbie Randy Lass, and Kurt Kathy Okke; grandchildren, Curtis Christina Leach, Chad Lindsey Leach, Tyanna Dan Lass, Kyle Okke, Kory Okke, Kasey Okke, Jay Peterson; great-grandchildren, Aiden Leach, Owen Leach, Autumn Leach; and brothers, Ike, Robert, Walter and John. He was preceded in death by his parents.
