Genevieve Mae Louise Peterson

Genevieve Mae Louise Peterson, 79, of Ulen, MN, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Viking Manor in Ulen, MN. Genevieve was born on February 9, 1938, to Melvin and Mabel Mjor Peterson in Hawley, MN. She grew up in Atlanta Township in Becker County and graduated from Ulen High School in 1956.

Genevieve worked as a posting clerk at the State Bank of Lake Park until she was united in marriage to Lavon Peterson on September 12, 1959 in Ulen, MN. After her marriage, Genevieve enjoyed her life as a homemaker. Genevieve was always one to socialize. Her kitchen door was open to all with coffee and cookies to spare. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, dancing, and loved keeping up with current events. She was a lifetime member of Lysne Lutheran Church and very active in the church activities. She spent her time in the Church Circle and Ladies Aid, teaching Sunday School and attending Bible Study.

Genevieve is survived by her daughter, LaRae Doug Jorgenson; granddaughters, Jessica Peter Jorgenson Borckert, Jennifer Greg Johnson, and Lyle Jorgenson; great-grandchildren, Beau Johnson, and anticipated twin great-granddaughters; brother, Myron Mavis Peterson; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lavon; 1 niece; and special friend, Billy Yarbough.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 11:00AM at Lysne Lutheran Church, Rural Hawley, MN with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.

Burial of ashes will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Lysne Lutheran Church Cemetery following services at the church.
