Gerald “Jerry” Altenbernd

Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Altenbernd, 88, of Sabin, MN, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
Jerry was born March 29, 1928 in Fargo, ND to Carl and Ida Jacobsen Altenbernd. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Moorhead High School. He then served in the U.S. Air Force. He returned home to continue farming and on April 15, 1954 he married Gladys Leiseth in Moorhead. Jerry was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served in many capacities. He enjoyed all the people he met during his years as owner of Altenbernd Crop Insurance.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys, and their seven children: Karen Bill Billica, Fort Collins, CO, David Altenbernd, Fargo, Cindy Terry Highum, Lanesboro, MN, Gary Brenda Altenbernd, Moorhead, Larry Val Altenbernd, Moorhead, Wayne Altenbernd, Fargo, and Eric Kelly Altenbernd, DeCatur, IL; and 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Robert and Fred; and sister, Janice.
