Gladys Peacock, 95, of Moorhead, MN, formerly Albany, OR, died Friday, February 28, 2014 in Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead, MN.

Gladys A. Peacock, 95, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at the Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.

Gladys Ann Marie Jacobson was born Aug. 28, 1918 in Traill County, ND to Axel Fred and Martha Edwards Jacobson. She grew up in the Hillsboro-Halstad area and attended Herberg School and Dakota Business College. She worked as a nanny for local families, an egg candeler at Fairmont Creamery, Moorhead and later as a cashier and clerk at the 88 Cent Store and Fred Meyer in Albany, Oregon.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Haaland in 1943 in Moorhead. They bought a grainery and turned it into a cute little home on 14th Street North where it still stands. In 1950, they moved to Albany, OR where Gladys lived until 2002. Gene died in 1975. Now Gladys had to learn to drive a car. In 1979, she married a long-time family friend, Theodore Peacock. He died in 2002. She commented that she didn’t have a 50th wedding anniversary but she did have two 25’s.
Gladys enjoyed being in Oregon, gardening, crocheting, shopping with friends, playing games, music and eating out.

She is survived by her step daughter-in-law, Linda Peacock, step granddaughter, Heather Chris Swanson, step great granddaughter, Paige Swanson all of Salem, OR and nieces, Phyllis Nick Smilonich and Jeanne Humberto Rodriguez, both of Moorhead and nephews, Bryce Daria Anderson of Perham and Stephen Mary Anderson of Barnesville and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and special friend, Bessie Sorby of Moorhead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, step son, Douglas Peacock and sister, Alice Jalmer Anderson.

A burial service was held March 7, 2014 at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Bottolfson Chapel at Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead, MN. Memorial Gathering one hour before the service.
