Gordon Langerud

Gordon Langerud, 98, Hawley, MN, died on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.
Gordon was born on December 16, 1915, in Keene Township, near Hitterdal, MN, to Harold and Selma Renslow Langerud. He attended rural school in Keene Township and then attended school in Hitterdal for a short time. He was a dairy farmer in Keene Township all of his life.
Gordon married June Sahlberg in 1942 and they had six children, Clifford, Gary, David, Hazel, Pauline and Barbara. June died on August 12, 1987. Gordon had spent twelve years as her devoted caregiver.
Gordon married Marlyn Jefferies on April 21, 1990 in Hawley, MN.
He loved horses, especially Belgians. He had served on the Hitterdal School Board, the Keene Township Board and the Elevator Board as well as serving as secretary of the Keene church for many years. Gordon enjoyed woodworking, making clocks and a spinning wheel.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Marlyn Langerud, Hawley, MN; two sons Clifford Mary Langerud, Barnesville, MN, and Gary Debi Langerud, Hawley, MN; three daughters Hazel Ronald Butenhoff, Barnesville, MN, Pauline Ken Pederson, and Barbara Curt Morken, Dent, MN; step-children Rita Keith Myers, Grand Forks, ND, Roxanne Burnside, Fargo, ND, Ramona Ron Kramer, Leoti, KS, Roberta Paul Nistler, Fargo, ND; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, June; son David; and brother Burton.
Visitation: Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Funeral: Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN.
Interment: Keene Cemetery, rural Hitterdal, MN.
