Gordon Thorsen

Gordon Jerome Thorsen age 84 of Woodbury, MN, formerly of Orfordville, WI, Hoyt Lakes and Ulen, MN passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Gordon was born April 21, 1921 in Atlanta Township in Becker County, MN. He farmed in Ulen, Mn from 1939, married Joan Fevig in 1951. The family moved to Hoyt Lakes, MN where he worked for Erie Mining Company from 1957 until he retired in 1983. He moved to Orfordville, WI in 1986 where he resided with his companion Norman. When his health declined, he returned to MN in 2001 to live with his daughters who cared for him until his death.Gordon was very devoted to his family. He loved to dance, play cards, call bingo and socialize with family and friends. He was an avid story teller and loved to laugh.In his retirement he loved to help others as a volunteer to drive, shop, meals on wheels, and anything else asked of him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his companion Norman Olson; sister Pauline Burkel; children ,Jerome Teri, Moorhead, Verlayne Alton Bennett, Woodbury, MN, Craig Torrence, CA, Peter Michele Hoyt Lakes, MN, Nels, Las Vegas, NV, Ruth Thuringer, Hoyt Lakes, MN, Jens Melinda Shakopee, MN; stepson, Steven Boutang; sister-in-law, Mabel Thorsen; and 16 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by former spouse Joan Boutang, parents, Peter and Anna Thorsen, sisters Beatrice Thorsen and Lillian Milton, twin brothers Peter and Andrew, and brothers Knute & Martin.
