Irene Torgerson

Irene Torgerson, 89, of Moorhead, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Eventide Senior Living.
Irene was born in Horace, ND on April 2, 1927 to Juel and Olive Hersrud Brateng. She was raised in the Fargo-Moorhead area, and early in 1948 she met Duane Torgerson while working for Dr. Robert Nelson. They were married in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead on September 10, 1948.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she was loved dearly by family and the Eventide staff who cared for her.
She loved to bake and always had dozens of chocolate chip cookies on hand for her family-that was her specialty! She also loved doing all kinds of crafts, including sewing and crocheting, dancing, playing cards, bingo and golfing. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren- they were the light of her life.
Irene and Duane were able to take several bus tours after retiring and they spent many happy years wintering in Arizona. They also had 6 special couples that they played cards with monthly for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband, Duane, and their 5 children; Linda Craig Cain, Nancy Tim Moore, Brian Sandy, David Kim Winger, friend, and Daniel Kathy; 10 grandchildren, Chris and Cory Cain, Matthew Wentz, Adam, Ross, Kevin, Michael, Rachel, Ryan and Lindsay Torgerson and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother, Karen Brateng, and her granddaughter, Angela Wentz.
