James Lequire

James “JD” LeQuire, 66, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, surrounded by his family, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

James Dean LeQuire was born on April 28, 1948 in St. Paul, MN, to John and Natalie Johnston LeQuire. He grew up and graduated high school in Grafton, ND. JD graduated from University of North Dakota with a degree in civil engineering. On December 28, 1975, he married Donna Beglau. Together they made their home in Grafton, while JD was in a partnership in business at Grower Sales. In 1985 they moved to Glyndon, MN, where he worked for the Mike Layton Company for almost 25 years. In 2000, JD and Donna moved to Moorhead, where they were most recently residing. In 2011, JD started working for Associated Potato Growers in Grand Forks, where he was currently working.

JD was an avid fan of the Fighting Sioux Hockey, attending most games. He and Donna enjoyed curling together in Grafton. Most of all, JD enjoyed his time on the golf course, playing many rounds over the years with his golfing buddies. He got his one and only hole-in-one at the Fair Oaks Golf Course in Grafton, ND on June 7, 1984. In 2002 he won the Seniors Championship at the Meadows Golf Course in Moorhead, MN. He also loved spending time with his grandson, Wyatt.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Beth Steve Miller LeQuire, Gwinner, ND; Jeremy Kayla Grosz LeQuire, Davenport, ND; mother, Natalie Meier; two brothers, Bob Sherrie LeQuire, Grand Forks, ND and Bill Jill LeQuire, Omaha, NE; grandson, Wyatt Vein; honorary grandchildren, Savannah and Colten Vein; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Milton and Hazel Johnston, and LeRoy Meier.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of JD to the American Diabetes Association.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home.

Memorial Service: Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead, MN.
