Jean Anne Dolva

Jean Anne Dolva, 91, of Hawley, MN passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN. Jean was born on August 26, 1925 to Harry and Ruth McClintock Laurance in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Jean attended St. Faith’s High School in Saratoga Springs, NY and graduated from Fredonia Teacher’s College in 1951 in Fredonia, NY. While still in college, she met Vincent Dolva. They were married on October 4, 1952 at Elmwood Community Church in Hartford, CT. They started their lives together moving out West, living both in Great Falls, MT and Salt Lake City, UT.

Jean and Vince enjoyed traveling around the west and developed many lifelong friendships along the way. They moved to Bloomington in 1968 and they retired in 1979. Upon retirement, they moved to Hawley, MN building a home on the Buffalo River. Throughout her life, Jean enjoyed raising her family, the outdoors, picnicking, crafting, writing poetry, and many other activities. She was part of the Hawley Volksmarch Club and the Knitting Club. She volunteered at the Hawley Elementary School library and knitted many hats for children in the Head Start program.

Jean is survived by her husband, Vincent; children, Beverly Dolva, Laurance Dolva, Sharon McClintock, and Janet Dolva; grandchildren, Caitlyn Josh Morelli, and Alicia Gensch; 1 great-grandchild, Jaxon Morelli; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will take place on Wednesday, April 12th, at 2:00P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN with a visitation 1 hour prior to services. Burial of ashes following services at Hawley Cemetery.
