Joan A Roen

September 8, 1933 — May 21, 2014

Joan Ann Roen, 80, of Lake Park, MN passed away Wednesday, May 21st, 2014, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D. Our beloved mother, Joan, has left us and is now present with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have great sorrow for our family’s loss but great joy in knowing that she is counted among the host of heaven. She was known to us as a woman of gentle love and compassion.

Joan was born September 8th, 1933 to Theodore and Elsie Williams Dietz in Mandan, N.D. At the age of 10, her family moved to Lake Park, MN where she lived the remaining years of her life. She graduated from Lake Park High School.

Joan and our father, John, were joined in marriage November 16th, 1952. They raised their family on a small farmstead on Boyer Lake near Lake Park. This is a very special place for the entire family. John preceded her in death on November 3rd, 1999. He is also sadly missed by all of us. Joan was employed by Sunnyside Care Center for many years; her life was enriched by friends and residents that came to know her at Sunnyside. Joan’s interests and passions were centered around her church, family and community. From the quilting group, the “bone-builders”, and her bible study group to her grandchildren, gardening and her world –class apple pie and crisp, Joan fully engaged in the life the Lord blessed her with.

Joan is survived by her brother, Bill Dietz, her son Richard Jean, her son Michael, her daughter Susan Phil Sura, her son David, and grandchildren: Tyler and Katie Sura and Madeleine and Wilson Roen.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ted and Neil Dietz.
