Joanne Ronsberg

March 19, 1934 — September 1, 2012

Joanne Ronsberg, 78, Minot, ended her time on earth and began a joy-filled eternity with her God on September 1, 2012. Joanne Angelyn Ronsberg was born on March 19, 1934, at her family's farm near Casselton, ND, the youngest of 10 children born to Joseph and Gertrude Schmidt Moos. She attended school in Casselton and graduated from Mount St. Benedict's in Crookston, MN. At age 16, she began college at Moorhead State University. Joanne was employed as a nanny and office clerk as a young adult. One day, while boarding a city bus, she announced to her friend that she was going to marry the handsome bus driver who was already flirting with her!. She and that bus driver, Leland Ronsberg, were joined in holy marriage on March 2, 1954. They made their home for a short time in southern Minnesota, before returning to the Rollag-Moorhead area. In 1957, Joanne was confirmed into the Lutheran Church under the guidance of her beloved new uncle, Pastor John Ronsberg. Leland, Joanne and their three children lived in Moorhead until 1966, when they moved to Jamestown. Joanne was an active volunteer at Jamestown's Stutsman County Social Services, North Dakota State Hospital and a founding member of Beginning Experience-a support group for widowed or divorced. She was employed in various part-time jobs. Leland began his time in eternity on April 26, 1978. Joanne moved to Minot in 1997, where she was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Joanne will be remembered by those blessed to have shared in her life, as a mom who gave her children the neighborhood's best birthday parties and Don, his favorite "mac n cheese", a grandma who would read for hours and a mother-in-law, who never picked sides. Her beautiful, sweet smile and laughter touched many hearts and she will be dearly missed. Joanne's loving family includes, children, Leann Patrick Wilkie, Minot, John Lisa Ronsberg and Donald Janna Ronsberg, both of Bismarck; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, brother, Harvey Moos, Washington, sisters-in-law, Helen Nelson, Moorhead, Minnesota, Muriel Moos and Grace Moos, Washington; brother-in-law, Orris Ronsberg, Moorhead, MN and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Graveside service on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hawley, MN.
