Joyce Mitchell

Joyce L. Mitchell, 85, of Moorhead, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2015. Joyce was born on October 12, 1930 to Raymond and Mildred Millie Larson in Benson, MN. Joyce grew up in Benson and after high school attended Glenwood Normal Teachers Training and taught school. On January 29, 1950 Joyce married Allen Mitch Mitchell in Benson, MN. They lived in the Benson area for several years, and then made their home in Moorhead in 1969. Joyce and Mitch were married for 61 years. Joyce’s first passion was her family – she lived for her roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a diehard Minnesota Twins fan, and enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing cards and games. Joyce is survived by her four daughters: Julie Joe Bradley, Leavenworth, KS, Nancy Lund, Moorhead, MN, Cindy Gary Markey, Moorhead, MN, and Lauri Sandry, Audubon, MN; two sons: Rod Carol Mitchell, Detroit Lakes, MN and Gordon Brenda Mitchell, Moorhead, MN; two sisters: JaVonne Frentzel, Benson, MN and Ardis Garrett, St. Cloud, MN; nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
