Kenneth Michel

Kenneth LeRoy Michel, 84, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Evergreens of Moorhead.

Kenneth was born January 11, 1931 in Sauk Prairie Township, Ward County, ND, to Frank and Esther Engel Michel. He was baptized on February 8, 1931. He attended Greenbush School District No. 90 in Ward County, ND for the elementary grades. Kenneth attended grades 9 and 10 at Tolley, ND. He attended and graduated from Donnybrook High School in ND on June 4, 1948 as valedictorian of his class. Kenneth attended the American Legion ND Boys State in 1948. From June 1948 through October 1950 he worked as a farm machine operator.

Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1951 and served through December 1954. He spent time in Adak Islands, Alaska and in New York City as an air traffic controller. He attended NDSU in 1955 and started his trucking businesss, Ken Michel Trucking, at that time.

On April 4, 1959 Kenneth married Clarice Haglund. They had four children, Daniel, Kirsten, Eric and Joyce. He married Patricia Goodman on January 27, 1990.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Herman Pete Magnuson, sister Shirley Kersey, step-son Mark Goodman and nephew Nicholas Magnuson.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, former wife Clarice and their children and families, Daniel Dina Michel, Jacob and Katilyn, of Hastings, NE, Kirsten Rod Lym, Fargo, ND, Eric Carole Michel, Aarika, Jeffrey and Zachary and great-grandchild Dylan, Fargo, and Joyce Jim VanLith, and Andy, Fargo, step-children Michael Susan Goodman, Curtis Gwen Goodman, Kathryn John Viebrock Hanneman, Steven Brenda Goodman, step-daughter-in-law Debbie Goodman, 13 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren and brother, Richard Liz Magnuson.
