Lana Shaw

Lana “Lou” Rose Shaw, 63, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Sanford hospital in Fargo, ND.
Lou was born April 19, 1951, in Fargo, ND to Alma and Gus Adamson. The family moved frequently during Lou’s childhood, but she went to school in Fargo and considered the town to be her roots.
In the late 60s Lou moved to Minneapolis, where she met her first husband, Harold “Butch” Herdt deceased. They had three children and lived in Minneapolis until 1980. The family moved to Glenburn, ND. Lou and Butch divorced in 1981.
Lou met Tommie Shaw, and they married August 13, 1983. They lived on Minot Air Force Base, ND, with Lou’s children until 1985, when Tommie received orders to San Vito Air Station in Italy.
The family lived in Italy for four and a half years, where Lou traveled, enjoyed the cuisine, and developed a love for stinky cheese. She said, often, that those were some of the best years of her life.
Lou moved to Michigan when Tommie received orders for his last assignment before retiring from the USAF in 1989. They lived on K.I. Sawyer AFB until 1991.
Tommie, Lou and her 2 sons moved to Moorhead, MN in 1991. She remained in the same house until her passing.
Lou’s hobbies were numerous. She loved to garden, sew, embroider and crochet. She collected vintage tablecloths, and loved roses. But more than anything she loved her grandchildren, and cherished the time she had with them.
She is survived by her husband, Tommie Shaw, Moorhead, MN, her daughter Monica Munro-Harris Troy Harris, Fargo, ND, Her sons Darrell Herdt, Moorhead, MN and Brent Jolene Herdt, Moorhead, MN grandchildren Aaron Herdt, Sioux Falls, SD, Marissa Herdt, Moorhead, MN, Paris Munro and Isabella Munro, Fargo, ND, Thomas and Thalia Herdt, Frazee, MN, and Glen Sandy Adamson, Elizabeth, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harlan Thompson.
