Lorraine Aakre

Lorraine P. Aakre, 86, of Hawley, MN, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in her home in Hawley, MN.
Lorraine Pauline Swenson was born on June 19, 1928, in Eglon Township, MN, to Paul and Eleanor Noreen Swenson. She grew up in Eglon Township and graduated from Hawley High School in 1946. On June 5, 1949, Lorraine married Carl Aakre. In 1950, they moved to the Swenson farm, East of Hawley. Carl died in 1993. Lorraine then moved to Hawley in June, 1994.
Lorraine was a farm wife and homemaker who also worked as a bookkeeper at Armor and Co. in West Fargo, and the Bankrupt Store in Hawley. She later worked at Carl’s Lefse in Hawley and T’s Pizza also in Hawley. Lorraine was involved with the Ladies Aide and Circle at Solem Lutheran Church for many years. She also helped with 4-H and kept busy with their children’s activities. Lorraine also loved to bake; her brown bread and donuts will be missed. Most of all, Lorraine loved being with her family. She was a loving mother who was always there – from running her children to activities, to later babysitting her grandchildren and attending their activities as well.
Lorraine is survived by five sons, Keith Lori Aakre, Lowell Barbara Aakre, Stewart Debbie Aakre, Tim Barbara Aakre and Tom Mary Aakre all of Hawley, MN; two daughters, Laurel Howard Heinonen, Brainerd, MN and Candace Jim Warden, Stanchfield, MN; sister, Lois Gary Johnson, Mesa, AZ; 19 grandchildren, 2 step-granddaughters, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Cheryl; granddaughter, Alexis; great-granddaughter, Torianna and great-grandson Jayce.
