Lucille Inez Lepper

February 1, 1919 — December 5, 2010

Lucille was born February 1, 1919, to Sidney and Rose Burnside Ford, on the family farm, north of Hawley. She grew up on the farm, attended rural country school #104 and later graduated from Hawley High School in 1937. After graduation she worked for Dr. C.W. Simison in Hawley before moving to Seattle, WA, where she worked for Boeing Aircraft as a "Rosie Riveter" during WWII. On November 1, 1942, she married Allan Lepper on her parent's farm in Cromwell Township. Together they made their home and farmed in Highland Grove Township, north of Hawley. They raised registered Holstein cattle, Chester White hogs and diversified small grains. In 1975, they were honored as the Outstanding Dairy Family of Clay County. They took pride in their farm and livestock and received awards for their high quality milk. In 1990, Allan and Lucille built a home north of Hawley for their retirement after 48 years on the farm. Allan died on December 15, 1994.Lucille was very active in the church for many years. She was a member of the Hawley United Methodist Women's group and was 4-H leader for several years. Lucille was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and knitting in her spare time. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Lucille is survived by her daughter, Lois Wayne Brandt of Ada, MN; son, Wayne Ernestine Lepper of Hawley, MN; four grandchildren, Susan Brandt of Ada, MN, Steven Elizabeth Brandt of Stillwater, MN, John Dr. Rose Brandt of Ada, MN, Lindsey Lepper of Hawley, MN; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Annie Tangen of Ulen, MN, and Irene Kluck of Hawley, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; sister, Dorothy; and brothers, Ralph, Henry, William, Lester, Ernest and Clyde.
