Malvin “Bill” Hickox

March 24, 1924 — April 22, 2011

Malvin "Bill" Hickox, 87, of Fargo, ND, formerly of East Grand Forks, MN, and Auburn, WA, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011, at Sanford Health's Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Bill was born March 24, 1924, to Harry and Agnes Peterson Hickox in Mitchell, NE, where he grew up and attended school. He then worked for a few years before entering the U.S. Army in 1943 and served until 1946. Bill was a talented carpenter and was able to use his skills while in the armed services. On June 22, 1949, he married Alma Ahmann in Grand Forks, ND. Together they lived in East Grand Forks and raised a family. Bill was a master carpenter and built many homes in the area. After moving from East Grand Forks in 1968, he traveled across the U.S. with his family. His goal was to visit all 50 states and he eventually accomplished that. He settled in Auburn, WA, where he worked on the Alaskan pipeline modules and several high-rises in Seattle, WA. Alma passed away on June 21, 1979. In 1982, he married Martha Randall who passed away in 1995. In 2006, Bill moved to the Evergreens of Fargo. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing pool and telling jokes. He will be dearly missed. Bill is survived by his daughters, Yvonne Joseph Rock of Sabin, MN, Claudine Melvin Jeffers of Buckley, WA; grandchildren, Christina Chad Swanson, Lawrence Rock, Melissa Nathan Kuhuski, Jennifer Frankie Dow; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Ryan and Danica Swanson, Kylie and Mason Kuhuski, and one on the way; sister, Mabel Warner of Gering, NE; and sister-in-law, Jean Hickox of Scottsbluff, NE.He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Donald and Ernest; and sisters, Florence Peterson and Evelyn Schmidt.
