Marcia Horan

Marcia Horan, 74, Moorhead, MN, died surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND, ending her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Marcia May Adamson was born on April 8 1940, in Mankato, MN, to Marlowe and Agnes Fitzgerald Adamson. She attended St. Peter and Paul Grade School and in 1958 graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato. Following graduation, she attended Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, IA.
Marcia married Thomas Patrick Horan on November 5, 1960 in Mankato, MN. Although they moved many times throughout their marriage, living in Redwood Falls, Marshall, Ortonville and Morris, MN, they eventually settled in Willmar, MN. They enjoyed eight wonderful years in retirement living on Green Lake in Spicer, MN, before moving to Moorhead, MN, in 2003 to be closer to children and grandchildren.
Marcia was a natural mother and was proud to be a full-time homemaker. Family was her priority; she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in the church, chairing the Wedding Coordinator Committee for many years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willmar and in 1999 received the Bishop’s Medal of Service. She liked visiting with friends and playing bridge for fun. She and Tom traveled in retirement, visiting Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, and France as well as most of the United States. They enjoyed wintering in Florida for a month every year, where they spent many happy times hosting children and grandchildren.
Marcia is survived by her husband Tom, Moorhead, MN; children Tim Sandy Horan, Gurnee, IL, Susan Horan John Kilene, Fargo, ND, Terry Michelle Horan, Moorhead, MN, and Ted Rachel Horan, Moorhead, MN; 8 grandchildren Tyler Paige, Travis Tara, Meghan, Tommy, Lydia, Tate, Annie and Jonah; one brother Stephen Mary Ann Adamson, Rochester, MN; several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother and sister.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation: Sunday, November 16, 2014, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Monday, November 17, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.
Interment: Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato, MN.
