Marilyn Murray White Zank

Marilyn Carol Murray was born April 13, 1926 in Columbia, MO, to Byron and Nona Pence Murray. She grew up in Moorhead, MN, and graduated from Moorhead State Campus School in 1943. Marilyn graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College in 1947 with a BS degree in Education. She taught English, French and Spanish at Appleton, MN, and Casselton, ND, before marrying Norman Feay in Moorhead in 1949. Together they raised five daughters. In 1972 she returned to school, received her Certificate to teach Learning Disabilities and began working with students at Lisbon, ND, and then in Waconia, MN. In 1980 she moved back to Moorhead, MN, and married Dr. Leland White. Education called again and she finished her Masters degree in 1984. Marilyn retired from teaching in 1989 at Washington school in Moorhead, MN. In 2002 she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the YWCA. Love came once again to Marilyn's life and she married James Zank in 2006.Marilyn is survived by her husband, James Zank; four daughters, Laurie Wilkowski Ken of Robinsdale, MN, Colleen Gass Bill of Tofte, MN, Pamela Kappel Larry of North Pole, AK, and Bonnie Gebhart Pat of Rogers, MN; step daughters, Harriet Lee Heinecke Rolf of Appleton, MN, and Romona Isaak Arnold of Aberdeen, SD; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Sue Murray of Tonka Bay, MN, Roger Elaine Murray of Dewey, AZ; and sister-in-law, Marge Murray of Grand Forks, ND.She was preceded in death by daughter, Shelley; son, Glenn; husband, Lee White; and brother, Stanley Murray.
