Marylou Pender

MaryLou was born March 15, 1927 to Arthur and Betty Stender Ernst in rural Sabin, MN. Growing up, MaryLou worked on her family farm remembering the long hours of weeding in the onion fields and pulling weeds mustard from the fields with her many brothers and sisters. She picked potatoes in the fall and cut potatoes in the spring for planting. She attended Koester Country School in Alliance Township and Comstock High School. When she was 18 years old she moved to Moorhead and worked at the dime store.She married Walter Pender on June 18, 1948, at United Church of Christ in Barnesville, MN. They moved to the Glyndon area where they raised their family and farmed. They settled at the Glyndon farmstead for 45 years, later moving into the town of Glyndon in 1987.MaryLou enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, cooking, quilting and crafts. She was a member of the Homemakers Bowling league for many years until 2010. She was an avid sewer and was often praised for her work in the Church's quilting club. MaryLou made all of her children a "cousin quilt" which included over 100 names and birthdates. She was a member of the Maranatha Free Lutheran Church of Glyndon.MaryLou is survived be her husband, Walter, Glyndon, MN; her children, Patricia Dennis Ose, Wildomar, CA, Mary Jim Conway, Holmen, WI, Julie Kevin Kelso, Glyndon, MN, Timothy Lori Pender, Glyndon, MN, and Debra Juan Arancibia, Culver City, CA; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. MaryLou also leaves the following brothers and sisters, Elaine Bontjes, Ruth Carlsrud, Dorothy Charlton, Walter Ernst, Ardis Randall, and Karen Prim.MaryLou was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jody; her parents, in-laws, nine brothers, and three sisters.
