Nancy Stuart

Nancy Lyn Stuart was born February 17, 1948 at Miller Hospital in Saint Paul, MN to Roger and Evelyn Stuart.

It was a time when, a few years after the war, many young couples were starting families and many new babies were being born. Miller Hospital was so crowded that they turned a big porch into a room for eight of the new mothers. Nancy was the only baby there with lots of bright red hair. The mothers went to sleep with snow gently falling and they woke up to the biggest snow storm of the year.

Nancy and her family moved to Moorhead in 1950 and she graduated from Moorhead High School in 1966. In 1988, she received a BA in English from Moorhead State College. Nancy spent several years at Friendship and Fraser in Fargo working with children and adults with special needs. She loved poetry and the arts and had two of her poems published in the American Poetry Anthology in 1988.

Nancy died in her home in Moorhead on December 17, 2016 at the age of 68.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Evelyn of Moorhead; three brothers, Joel of Minneapolis, Jim Ann of Lino Lakes, MN, Mike Sandy of Tampa, FL; Aunt Ardene and Uncle Buzz and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Wright Funeral Chapel in Moorhead, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
