Norman Kuehl

February 20, 1922 — September 29, 2011

Norman Albert Bendix Kuehl was born February 20, 1922 at Baker, Minnesota and died at Eventide Lutheran Home Thursday morning, September 29, 2011. He was 89 years of age at the time of his death. Norman was the first born son of Johnnie and Francies Froemming Kuehl. He was baptized in Sabin, Minnesota at Trinity Lutheran Church. Later the family moved to Glyndon, Minnesota where he attended school.Norman worked on the family farm with his father and brothers. In 1944 he left to serve in the U.S. Army in Japan. Norman was on the first honor flight to Washington D.C. In 1963 he began his long career as a car salesman for Kiefer Chevrolet and Selland Motors in Moorhead. Norman was a good car salesman for over 20 years and was awarded salesman of the month several times. After retiring from the car sales business Norman drove the courtesy car for Selland Pontiac and a senior citizen bus in Fargo. He was also a golf course ranger at the El Zagel Golf Course in north Fargo. On December 17, 1969 Norman married his beloved wife, Sylvia Schultz. She was a widow and the mother of four children: Darrell Betty, Wichita, Kansas, Alan Sylvia, Houston, TX, Mary Heimark, Sun City, AZ, and Meredith Kathy, Fargo, ND.Norman and Sylvia loved to travel and enjoyed many nice trips. They spent several winters in Arizona until Sylvia's health began to decline and they decided to stay closer to her doctor and her sister Gladys in Fargo, North Dakota. Sadly, Sylvia died June 2, 1997. They had been married 28 years.Norman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. In his later years Norman always enjoyed a drive to the farm to see the harvest and his brother Glenn and nephews: Bob, Wayne, Dale and Fred. Usually every birthday they would plan a party for him at McDonalds in Moorhead. He even requested music as Norman loved to listen and dance to old time music.Norman loved his many friends and family. He is survived by a sister, Arlene Don Holm, Lake Park, Minnesota; brother Glenn Kuehl, Glyndon, Minnesota; and sister, LaVon Ford, Hawley, Minnesota. Many nieces and nephews, step-children and step-great-grandchildren who dearly loved him.Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Sylvia; sister Jeannette and her husband Ralph Knutson; brother Vernus Kuehl Ione; Mildred Glenn's wife; Henry Ford LaVon's husband; and step-son Darrell Schultz.Blessed be the memory of Norman Kuehl!
