Paula Jo Wilson

February 10, 1956 — March 9, 2013

Paula Jo Wilson passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo after a battle with multiple myeloma.

Paula Busby was born February 10, 1956, to Loyal and Doloris Hogenson Busby Jr. She grew up in rural Hitterdal, MN, the eighth of 10 children. She graduated from Ulen-Hitterdal in 1974 and attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1976. She was employed by St. Luke’s, Meritcare, and Sanford for the entire 36 years of her outstanding nursing career. Most of her time was spent in oncology, most recently as a chemotherapy nurse. Paula had a special calling with cancer patients and their families. She was very highly respected by physicians, colleagues, patients, and families.

She married her best friend and love of her life, Breck Wilson, on August 31, 1974, in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN. Together they raised their family in Dilworth where she continued to live until her passing. She was a member of Dilworth Lutheran Church for 35+ years.

Paula enjoyed spending her free time at the lake with family, quilting, swimming, water skiing, taking brisk walks and her favorite, spending time with her grandkids. Anyone who knew Paula will remember her feisty persistence, a quality she used to advocate for anyone who needed her gifts and skills. She always gave her heart, soul and time to confront any situation that needed a solution. She faced life with a positive outlook and a unique sense of humor. We will miss you Paula.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years Breck Wilson. They were blessed with three children, Curt of Dilworth, Taylor Teri of Hitterdal, and Carrie Joe Krumwiede of Glyndon. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hayden Wilson 4, Summer Wilson 3 ½, Kynlee Wilson 2, Leeham Wilson 10weeks and Baby Tiger Krumwiede due in June; father, Loyal Ida Lewis Busby Jr.; siblings, Sharon Gene Willgohs, Patricia Anderson, Linda Mike Rydjord, Mary Raj Karim, David Teri Fisher Busby, Danny Lori Busby, Gail Tom Spillum, Jeri Sakrismo, Maureen David VanDenEinde; mother-in-law, Gert Johnson; sisters-in-law, Paula Burton Johnson, Wendy Jerry Baumann, Candace Al Engstrom; and brother-in-law, Jim Colleen Johnson; 44 nieces and nephews; 46 great nieces and nephews; aunts, Gen Fuglie and Helen Don Gunderson; and uncle Russell Borgen.
