Roy Mattson

Roy was born September 6, 1922 in Stanley Township, Cass County, North Dakota. He grew up in the Mapleton, North Dakota area and attended District #9 rural country school in Cass County, North Dakota. Roy married Melpha Anderson on February 13, 1947 at Lysne Lutheran Church, in rural Hawley, Minnesota. Following their marriage they lived north of Hawley where they farmed. Roy served on the Hitterdal Elevator Board, Keene Township Supervisor and was on the Clay County Board of Adjustment. He belonged to Lysne Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. Melpha died December 5, 2008. Roy moved in to Hawley where he has since resided.He is survived by a brother, Jon Mattson, Sun City, AZ; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Elmer Blakeway, Hawley, MN, Marlena Duffney, Moorhead, MN, Inez Larson, Rothsay, MN, Myrtle Anderson, Fargo, ND, Carol Anderson, Coon Rapids, MN; and several nieces and nephews.Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Melpa; brothers-in-law, Allan Anderson Arnold Anderson, Ernest Larson and James Duffney; and sister-in-law, Patricia Mattson.
