Ruth Jean Vojta

Ruth Jean Jones Vojta, age 71, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Selby, SD, passed away peacefully after complications from mesothelioma and dementia on June 10, 2017 at Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead.

Ruth was born on October 29, 1945 in Linton, ND to Ernest and Mildred VanderLaan Jones. She grew up and attended school in Pollock, SD and graduated in 1964.

She was united in marriage to Keith Vojta on September 15, 1967. They lived on the family farm in rural Selby until June 1992. During this time they had two children. In June, 1992 they moved to Mobridge. In August, 2015 they moved to Moorhead, MN.

Ruth loved being outside while on the farm from tending her flowers to bottle feeding baby lambs. Ruth also had a love for children and because of this opened a daycare for infants which she ran for almost 20 years after they moved to Mobridge.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Keith Vojta, Sr. of Moorhead, MN; her daughter, Marie Mike Wollschlager, grandchildren Hunter and Faith of Moorhead, MN; her son, Keith Jr. Stephanie Vojta, grandchildren September and Tayden of Lead, SD. She is also survived by two nieces, Marsha Wood and Michele Staton.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her sister JoAn.

Ruth’s children are thankful for the incredible, compassionate care she received at Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead.

A private family service was held in Moorhead.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be forwarded to Elks Camp Grassick, an organization which serves children and adults with various disabilities and special needs.
