Shirley Ann Anderson

Shirley Ann Anderson, 80, Moorhead, MN, died on Monday, October 31, 2016 in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Shirley Ann Hitterdal was born on October 23, 1936 in Goose Prairie Township, near Hitterdal, MN, to Leonard and Esther Sahlberg Hitterdal. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Hitterdal High School in 1954.
She married DuWayne Anderson on July 9, 1954 in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN. They lived in Moorhead until 1968, Rollag, MN until 1971, Ada, MN until 1972 and then lived at Hitterdal before moving to Moorhead in 1978. She and DuWayne wintered in Arizona from 1989 until DuWayne’s death on October 1, 2002, and she continued going until 2012.
Shirley had worked as a custodian for Concordia College, where she also attended classes in art. She also worked at Viking Manor in Ulen, the Moorhead Kmart and was self-employed with a cleaning business.
She was an active member of both Salem Lutheran in Hitterdal, Our Savior’s Lutheran in Mesa AZ and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead.
Shirley loved volunteering, helping people and working with children. She was very interested in genealogy and family history for both her family and others. She enjoyed art and was a member of the Cormorant Art Club for many years.
Shirley is survived by her children Vicky Clayton Matson, West Fargo, ND, Wayne Anderson, Fargo, ND, and Sherry David Klemetson, Sabin, MN; sisters Beverly J. Hilde, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Patricia Charles Heacox, Green Valley, AZ; five grandchildren Jamie Travis Reimche, Kari Gabe Irvis, Cody Katie Matson, Heather Greg Martodam, and Chelsea Klemetson Fiance’ Dustin Munyer; seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, November 4, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Funeral: Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN.
Interment: Salem East Cemetery, Hitterdal, MN.
