Stanley Miller

Stanley E. Miller, 83, of Hawley, MN, died Monday, March 9, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Stanley Elroy Miller was born March 21, 1931 to Charles and Edith Cook Miller in Barnesville, MN. He grew up and attended school in Barnesville. In 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years. On October 24, 1953 he married Eleanor Wamre and they farmed together near Baker, MN and later bought a farm in Eglon Township.

Stanley enjoyed farming, gardening and woodworking. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and all of their activities. Stanley and Eleanor enjoyed camping and traveling to such places as Alaska, Hawaii, and Switzerland. He was a member of the Lake Park American Legion Post #181. He served on the Eglon Township Board of Directors and was superintendent of the cemetery at Hegland Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor; sons, Mark Linda Miller, Fergus Falls, MN, Thomas Beth Miller, Kalispel, MT; daughter, Debra Mark Kennedy, Watertown, MN; brother, Lester Dorothy Miller, Maple Grove, MN; sister, Evonne Kuyper, White Bear Lake, MN; grandchildren, Charles Kennedy, Emily Joshua Kempf, Sarah Kennedy, Peter Tara Kennedy, Traci fiancé Jacob Weinreis Miller, Leslie Miller, Joshua Miller and Kaylee Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glen Miller, Vernon Miller, Norval Miller, Harlan Miller, and sister Florine Wyatt.
