Temmia Jordahl

Temmia Alsena Jordahl, age 91, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully at Sanford Health on March 1, 2016.
She was born Temmia Alsena Nannenga on July 4, 1924 on the family farm to Ibel and Alsena Nannenga. She went to school in Verona, ND where she graduated. She then went on to nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND. Temmia graduated with her nursing degree and moved with her sister to Medford, OR where she worked for a few years. She moved back to LaMoure, ND in 1956 where she met and married the love of her life, Vernon Jordahl. They then moved to Moorhead, MN where she started her nursing career at St. Luke’s Hospitals in 1958. In 1960, they celebrated the birth of their daughter Janet. Temmia had a long and fulfilling career spanning 30 years first at St. Luke’s Hospitals then MeritCare where she was the long standing manager of the Orthopaedic unit. After her husband died in 1984 she spent many years traveling the world with friends and family. In her later years she loved spending time on bus trips through the Sons of Norway. In 1991 she celebrated the marriage of her daughter Janet to Jay Haiby. In May 1997 she celebrated the adoption of her grandson, Drew and then in November 1999 she celebrated the adoption of her granddaughter Samantha. She was a very proud grandmother who loved spending time watching their activities and telling anyone who would listen regarding their accomplishments.
Her life was full and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Temmia is survived by her daughter, Janet Jay Haiby; her brother, Fred Lenoma Nannega; her sister, Grace Merle Haisley and her grandchildren, Andrew and Samantha Haiby. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and her husband, Vernon.
