Verna Dahlstrom

Verna Dahlstrom, 96, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in River Pointe, Moorhead.
Verna Livdahl was born along with her identical twin, Vera on August 8, 1916, in Hickson, ND, to Peter and Emma Nokken Livdahl. She attended grade school there and graduated from Moorhead High School. She and Vera were known as a mischievous pair growing up.
Verna married Edwin Dahlstrom on September 8, 1936 in the Red River Church. They farmed the family farm near Comstock, MN, continuing a family tradition that began there in 1869. Verna entertained lots of friends and family and became known for running the “Dahlstrom Hotel”. She was a member of the Comstock Lutheran Church and WELCA, as well as the Ladybugs Garden Club.
Verna and Ed wintered together in Mesa, AZ, and enjoyed summers at Lake Lida. Verna enjoyed travelling and shopping; she backpacked in Europe with her daughter and granddaughter and travelled there with her twin Vera and daughter-in-law Greck Dahlstrom also.
Ed died in 1986. Verna continued wintering in Mesa where she had many friends and family, and enjoyed spending time on Pelican Lake with her son, Larry, and on Lake Melissa with her daughter Emmy.
Verna is survived by her son, Larry Dahlstrom A.J. Valan, Fargo, ND; daughter Emmy Lou Tim Amble, Fargo, ND; grandchildren Chad Tracy Tonsfeldt, Scottsdale, AZ, and Tanya Tonsfeldt, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren Sydney Tonsfeldt, St. Louis, MO, and Summer Tonsfeldt, High Point, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed; brothers John, Gilford, Percy, Earl, and Donald Livdahl; twin sister Vera Anderson; infant sister Enid Livdahl; daughter-in-law Greck Dahlstrom.
Visitation: Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Funeral: Friday, March 22, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock, MN.
Interment: Clara Cemetery, Comstock, MN.
