William Edward Wigdahl

March 30, 1925 — April 15, 2017

William “Bill” Edward Wigdahl, 92, of Ulen, MN passed away on Saturday, April 15, at Viking Manor in Ulen, MN. He was born March 30, 1925 to Gabriel and Clara Aaberg Wigdahl in Oscar Township, Rothsay, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay, MN. He attended school at District 127 and graduated from High School at Rothsay, MN. He then started farming the home farm from 1944 to 1957.

On September 10, 1944 he married Nora Myers at Pelican Lake Lutheran Church in Ashby, MN. When farming, he was active in many farm organizations. He was on the Board of Local Farmers Union at Rothsay, a county chairman and also on the Board of State Minnesota Farmers Union.

He moved to Fargo in 1957 and was field man for Minnesota Harvest States in eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota from 19 years. In 1976 started working for Kellogg Grain Commission Company and also was field supervisor for Kellogg serving in the same territory for 12 years.

Bill retired on January 1, 1988 and he and Nora sold their home in Fargo and went to live on Turtle Lake while spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona. After retirement, Bill and Nora were care takers of Park Lutheran Cemetery for 7 years.

Bill served on the Church Board in Rothsay, MN, Fargo, ND, and at Park Church. He was a fisherman and an avid golfer. He got a hole in 1 in 2007 at Welton, Arizona. He loved to sing, especially church hymns. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bill is survived by his 3 children, Richard Wigdahl, Pauline Elliot Johnson, and Marilyn Ron Tanfield; grandchildren, Brenda Randy Dever, Brian Heidi Johnson, Derek Heather Johnson, Cory Wigdahl, Travis Wigdahl, Brent Amy Neubauer, Sarah Tanfield, and Andy Tanfield; great-grandchildren, Charlie Dever, Josie Dever, Asher Johnson, Bodie Johnson, Addison Neubauer, and Liam Neubauer; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nora, parents, Gabriel and Clara; daughter Patricia Neubauer; brothers, John, Alfred, Orwin, and twin brother, Walter; sister, Genora Maack; son-in-law, Keith Parkhouse.

Visitation: Friday, April 21, 2017, from 5:00-7:00PM at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN with a prayer service beginning at 6:00PM.

Service: Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11:00AM at Rollag Lutheran Church in Rollag, MN.

Burial: Following Services at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND.
