William “Sonny” Dauner

Sonny was born on February 1, 1923 in Keene Township to William and Lucy Luthi Dauner. He grew up and attended school in Cromwell Township. Sonny farmed with his father for a brief time before entering the Army in 1945. He served during WWII in the Philippines before being honorably discharged in 1946. He continued to farm and work as a mechanic in Hawley until 1992.Sonny married Nora Heller on October 16, 1948 in Fargo, ND. They lived on a farm in Cromwell Township until 1992 when they moved to Hawley.In his retirement Sonny enjoyed woodworking and working with his son in law Tom on the farm.Sonny is survived by his wife Nora; three sons, Dean Dauner, Fargo, ND, Harley Norma Dauner, Hawley, MN, Mark Dauner, Fargo, ND; two daughters, Nancy Tom Bjorndahl, Hawley, MN, Jerrie Loren Skjeret, Billings, MT; one brother, James Darlene Dauner, Solway, MN; three sisters, Carol Wesley Erickson, Hawley, MN, Betty Chuck McDonald, Hawley, MN, Shirley Darwin Windloss, Sharon, ND; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin, and one sister Rose Eppler.
