Alan Lee “Pebbles” Gravalin

Alan Lee “Pebbles” Gravalin, 75, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, in his home in Moorhead.

Pebs was born on March 10, 1947, to Harold and Emma (Wangsness) Gravalin, in Fargo, ND. He grew up in Moorhead, attending and graduating from Moorhead High School, and later attending and graduating from MSUM with a bachelor’s degree in 1972. He was united in marriage to Nicola Johnston on June 8, 1974, in Moorhead. Pebs taught and coached kids at St. Joseph’s Catholic School from 1972-1976. In 1976, he began his work at Moorhead High School as the Athletic Equipment Manager until his retirement in 2001.

Pebs loved sporting events, specifically MSUM and Concordia football. His favorite time of the year was the week he could spend time at Lake Mary with his wife and daughter and fishing on the lake with his great friends, Gary “Tuilie” Tuil and Larry Scott. He also loved fishing with his siblings on Big Twin Lake and Spider Lake.

Pebs is survived by his loving wife, Nicki; daughter, Molly Gravalin; mother, Emma; siblings, Tom (Linda) Gravalin, Bruce Gravalin, Jim (Mary) Gravalin, and Ann (Chuck) Schwede; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold, and sister, Emily Gravalin.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by a time of sharing beginning at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 P.M., at Concordia College, Centrum Center, in the Knutson Campus Center, Moorhead, MN.
