Alton (Al) age 84, of Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Viking Manor Nursing Home.
Born on January 27, 1941, in Crookston, MN, Alton was the son of Leonard and Dora Isaacson. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1960-1980 achieving the rank of 1st Sargeant. His military service took him to Okinawa, Germany, England, Vietnam, and earned him medals for National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Five Service Stars, and many others for his bravery and leadership.
After his honorable discharge, Alton drove over the road for many years, had his own cleaning service, and worked on many projects for the DAV. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football and playing solitaire on his computer. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was a very good cook. His favorite meal to prepare was Beef Stroganoff. He was a man who showed a tough exterior but had a soft, gentle, and caring heart. He was always there to help those in need. He preferred to help anonymously whenever he could.
Alton is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Mary Isaacson of Fargo, ND, Sister Marcy Raggor of Minneapolis, MN, Sisters-In-Law Gloria Isaacson of Seattle, WA and Dorothy Isaacson of Minneapolis, MN, Stepsons Jim (Laura) Ringuette of Minneapolis, MN, and Jeff (Kristy) Ringuette of Moorhead, MN, and three Step Grandchildren Tyler Peabody of Seattle, WA, Ava Ringuette of Fargo, ND, and Ashlyn Ringuette of Moorhead, MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents Leonard and Dora, Sister Leona Brubakken, Brothers Dennis Isaacson, and Gaylan Isaacson.
A memorial service will be held on September 19, 2025, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home, 605 2nd Avenue So., Moorhead, MN 56560. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans program in his name. His legacy of service, courage, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Final resting place will be in Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
